An impressive garden bench in a classic British design made of solid, black lacquered cast iron. A stylish lion head decorates the left and right sides of the bench. The decking is made out of twelve sturdy, mahogany-coloured hardwood boards, which are easy to maintain. Cast iron exists in various levels of quality, which is measured by the density of the processed cast iron. The lesser the density, the lighter and wobblier is the product and the easier it can break. This bench offers a level of very high density and is therefore very sturdy and robust. The cast iron can be re-painted from time to time with metal paint. The wood should be treated with a commercially available coating, depending on the use and site of installation. The bench will be delivered in a carton and needs to be assembled. All fittings and instructions are included in the delivery and assembly will only take a couple of minutes.

So easy to put together, two of us put it together just so one could stabilise while the other screwed it together but could be put together with one person. The first table that was delivered was wonky, Wayfair sent a replacement which has so far lasted 2 summers no problem. It’s very sturdy and looks great. The bench is well made for the price, but the assembly instructions are of very poor quality. The diagrams are both inadequate and misleading, eg the A x 2 panels, shown as identical in the crude drawing, are not in fact identical and have to be fixed a certain way. The same applies to the B x 2 and G x 2 panels. The fixings on the F x 2 struts are not as shown on the totally inadequate drawing. Some of the major pieces also small paper stickers on their ends with J, J1, J2 or J3 on them, but nothing is included to explain these. The actual materials of the bench are mostly OK but the fixings on the ends of the R x 4 cords are of poor quality. I would have given the bench 4 stars in terms of its quality but the instructions are so poor that I have made it 2 stars - 'room to improve'.. Anonymous. Fri May 29 2026
