This lovely wooden bowl is hand-carved from mango wood, a wonderfully sustainable wood. The simple pattern has been polished to bring out the natural beauty of the wood. These bowls have been hand-carved by skilled artisans working for an inspirational fair trade organization in northern India. Due to the handmade nature of these products designs may slightly vary but loveliness comes as standard. All their mango wood products are hand-carved by WFTO-accredited producers in India. They are made entirely by hand using traditional skills handed down from generation to generation. Mango trees have an extremely long life but eventually do stop bearing fruit and are replaced by younger trees. As India produces, by far, the most mangos in the world this results in a massive industry using one of the most sustainable woods known to man.

I had a wonderful trip to Orkney where I collected some sand and shells on the beautiful beaches. I wanted something special to display them in. I wanted a rustic looking wood and also a shape that reflected the sea. So when I saw this item I thought it was perfect. It sits quite happily in its appointed place and looks forward to visits from the turquoise pigeon. Strange colour, the pigeon, that is, but they seem to get on. I ordered one of these as a present back in January and the colours were stunning-bright red, grey and gold. I wanted to treat myself recently so ordered exactly the same one for myself and was very disappointed when it arrived. The bright red was in fact pink, so the overall effect was far less stunning. So I started a return and was amazed to see that even though the product did not meet the description online I had to pay £6.99 to return the item by DHL. The nearest DHL drop-off is 5 miles away from here. I would have kept the product had the colours being right but through no fault of my own I have had to incur this cost to return the bowl to Wayfair. I can’t find anywhere online where I can contact the head office so I’m having to write this negative review here. It doesn’t seem fair that if the product does not meet the specification online that the customer has to pay the postage cost and the whole returns procedure is very difficult by only having DHL as the carrier..
