As we only use 100% natural raw slate and hand-cut it to shape, irregularities on the surface/sharp edges corners, and tiny chips off within the finished designs are to be expected. Our food services products, such as our cheeseboards and servicing trays, have been treated with acrylic lacquer. Our special acrylic lacquer completely seals the slate ensuring food safety and allowing for ease of cleaning (only for a few exclusive/finest products). To maintain the appearance of these items over time and hide scratches, a natural/cooking oil can be re-applied using a dry, lint-free cloth. Do not wash in the dishwasher; do not use with abrasive pan scrubs; do not place in either a conventional or a microwave oven. Our slate products are heat resistant- perfect for hot pans and dishes; fridge and freezer safe. Please keep away from children under 18 years old, this is not a toy.

Love the design of these and wish they did a set with table mats etc. The designs look great IRL, the coasters are very thick and made of a stone type material - not sure how the print is added on but it's very sturdy and looks like it won't ever wear off. Because it's so thick, as other comments have said it's not a stable surface - the edges are uneven & dip downards so I have spilt my drink putting it too far to the edges before. this is obviously a problem for a coaster, but the design is just too pretty and there's nothing else out there like it, so I still love it - OK for your own use but would have to be a bit careful with guests if they're not aware the surface is uneven.
