I bought this cage for my hammie, and we both absolutely love it! I decided to attach the bottom tray permanently with spare screws that came in the pack, as I didn’t require the pullout tray, although it would be handy for animals that don’t require such thick bedding. I sealed the interior and painted the outside with non toxic animal friendly paint/sealant, the wood was so easy to coat, not to mention to put it together, so quick and simple! The wooden platforms slot into place and are easy to remove in order to clean the cage (no screws) but still secure enough. The Perspex screens are covered initially to prevent any scratches, which was really handy to leave on while I painted it. The item itself is packed very well and carefully. I love this little hutch and so do the bunnies! It is a bit small for two average sized rabbits so I also bought the pet pen to give them more room. The materials match the hutch exactly. The small viewing window still allows you to view the barn at any time. The roof is covered with bitumen felt to protect the interior from the weather. The zinc sheet of the stable can be pulled out and emptied. Simply fill it with fresh litter and you're done. We recommend frequent cleaning, as the galvanizing of the sheet can be attacked. The 3 tier design is great our rabbits love the 3 different levels-very spacious. However the quality of the hutch is incredibly poor, wood came split. The roof doesn't come with roofing felt so you need to provide your own. The instructions were shocking - had to look at the pictures on the site to work out how to put it together! Then use loads of my own extra screws to make it stable and fox proof. The bottom level has no door which means it can't be cleaned unless you pick the hutch up...not at all practical. The ladders are attached to the pull out trays which means you can not pull the trays all the way out and both trays need to be pulled out together-so cleaning isn't as easy as it could be!
