I wanted this trash bin because of the handle bar open. Motion sensor was out of the question for me because of my narrow kitchen and I shied away from step cans because of accidental opens. It looks good but the steel is thin, thinner than cheaper trash cans I've seen for 1/3 the price. The first one I received had a big dent on the edge. The box and shipping box were not damaged. The second one I received was perfect. The handle bar and manual closing becomes tedious and I wish I opted for a step can. I couldn’t be happier with this trash can. I ordered a second for recycling! My old SimpleHuman can left black marks on the wall that drove me crazy but this one doesn’t touch the wall at all. I bought this sensor bin to replace a similar model from another brand. The lid on my previous bin broke, and I couldn’t get a replacement. Looks flimsy when all the parts are taken out of the box, but once assembled it stands up well (in all senses of the phrase). Sensor function works very well and is very satisfying to use. Our stainless motion sensor touchless can died after less than a year and we couldn’t find a replacement lid. We started looking at white cans to go with our white coastal decor. We weren’t sure how we were going to like this one because you do have to touch the top to open it, and we weren’t sure about the black lid. We were VERY pleasantly surprised! We love this can.
