Wood Dakota Fields Compost Bins & Composters

This handy wooden composter is surely an ideal option for collecting your waste.

This wooden composter is surely an excellent option to collect your garden waste, such as leaves, weeds, etc.

This product is really poor - I am about to give up on it. I have spent several hours trying to assemble it, but the instructions are unclear (hard to differentiate between the posts, nothing is labelled) and the wooden pegs are too small and go right into the hole so you then can't get them out, the metal bits (that the screws fit in) are too big and don't fit in the holes. The wood has split in a couple of places, and after frustratingly trying to assemble it I have only managed to do one side. I don't recommend it and am very very disappointed in this product given its cost.. Stephanie. London, GB. Fri Aug 18 2023

We were impressed by the design of these modular compost bins; they incorporate a host of features for keen composters! Can be assembled in minutes - no nails, screws or holes to dig. Slide-out panels on all sides for easy access. 573 litres (20 cu.ft.) capacity per module. Wood provides good insulation, while allowing the compost to ‘breathe’.

Description says 4 posts and 20 panels, but it is an extension set with 2 posts and 15 panels, and useless unless you buy the main one for £147.. Anonymous. Sun Jul 06 2025

This modular wooden compost system is perfect for creating your own homemade compost. Green waste disposal can be a problem for keen gardeners, so it is well worth investing in these sturdy woody bins to create your own nutrient-rich compost!Manufactured from managed forests, the Wooden Compost Bin base unit consists of 4 posts and 20 panels. The system creates a 4 sided bin with a 573 litre capacity that simply slots together with no need for nails or screws. The slats can be adjusted to allow good aeration which is vital for creating a good compost.

Making your own compost at home is now a massive and environmentally beneficial garden trend, but compost bins can be unattractive even if useful and desirable. The Eco Hive Composter not only has some super functional advantages, but it is also an attractive addition to any garden (with a 28mm x 28mm frame). Shaped like a traditional beehive and made from sustainable slow grown soft wood from responsibly managed forests, this product is a winner from the start. The large 405 litre capacity and an open base (.75mm x .82mm) that helps to produce internal heat which makes compost faster, ensures this is a really practical purchase. The lid opens on either side and folds back on itself for easy removal in order to churn the compost and allowing gardeners to easily harvest the compost from the lower hatch (500m x 270mm). Narrow gaps in the side panels allows air to circulate in the composter whilst keeping the rain out. The angled ‘cant cut’ timber boards (90mm x 20mm) keeps the waste inside hidden and out of sight as well as having a more modern aesthetic and aids ventilation. The timber lid and side panels help to manage the temperature and moisture content, retaining the heat and ventilating the compost– which is needed in order to speed up decomposition. The open base allows micro-organisms, worms and slugs from the ground to get into the waste heap and help to break it down into top quality compost.

Despite assurances that I would be able to track the delivery it arrived unexpectantly while the house was unoccupied and was left with a neighbour. The composter was just a collection of wooden battens cut to length, various screws, hinges and assembly instructions. I am fairly competent at assembling such things but it was a fiddly job with no pre-drilled holes so I feel that the web site description should emphasise that assembly of the composter does require a certain level of competency. Overall though I am quite pleased with my purchase which looks and performs a lot better that the plastic "Dalek" type bin.. Michael. Grimsby, GB. Mon Jun 20 2022

Poor quality. I was expecting some construction however to build it from complete scratch was totally unexpected.. Mandy. Mayland, GB. Fri Aug 19 2022

These take much more self assembly than I expected, not even any pre-drilled holes. It’s basically a pile of pre-cut wood in a plastic bag.. Louise. Devizes, GB. Fri Apr 29 2022
