The Emma Original Classic is a 25 cm deep all foam mattress with a gently cushioning, hugging feel and balanced support underneath. Three layers of foam work together. MemoryAdapt foam at the top moulds to your body and distributes weight evenly to ease pressure at the shoulders and hips, while the SupportBase layer below eases strain and holds you up without letting you sink. Foam cutouts at the shoulder and hip zones let the surface flex where the body puts the most pressure, cradling the joints rather than pushing back against them, which makes this mattress particularly suited to side sleepers. The foam also absorbs movement naturally, so a partner turning over or getting up is less likely to wake you, and it is engineered to hold its form through years of nightly use. The cover is fully removable and machine washable at 40 degrees. The Emma Original Classic has a medium feel and comes with a 100 night trial and a 10 year guarantee.

First 5 nights I thought I'd made the wrong choice and was thinking about returning the mattress as I felt like I was sleeping on a plank of wood. I was looking at softer mattress options on Wayfair as I was certain I was going to exchange it. This taught me the importance of settling into your new mattress and giving it time. I deliberately went for a firmer mattress due to my old medium being way too soft and very bad for my arthritic spine and fibromyalgia. I'd say it took almost 2 weeks and now 6 weeks later it's gone from completely rigid with zero movement to softer with a little bounce. I'm now happy with the mattress. It's deep enough, firm enough but also soft enough for my body to feel supported and sunk in/ cradled. I sleep alone on this double mattress but it would be ideal for a couple as it doesn't bounce and move when you roll over. It hasn't helped my back but it appears that no mattress can help arthritis anyway. It certainly hasn't made it worse, only during the settling in period. Expect it to be incredibly firm for the first few weeks but learn from me, it gets softer. 6 weeks in it's 25cm deep.. Andrea. Sutton, GB. Mon Feb 22 2021
